How it all began...
I have loved writing since I was a child. I believe that my first diary was given to me by my mother when I was 7. It was one of the "locking" diaries, not very secure, but I was 7. It helped me understand the importance of writing down your thoughts and organizing your words to paint a perfect portrait for the reader. Since I was the reader at the time, the prose was probably not very eloquent...and I was 7.

Seven was an eventful year for me. I was a big sister to a girl that I adored, and I realized in that year that she was finally at an age where she could play with me and be my partner-in-crime. It was also the year that I was caught in a barn fire and had to run through the flames to escape. Not to mention, it was the first time that I attempted to run away. I didn't know what I was doing at the time so I left my mother a note telling her exactly where I was going. My neighbors told her that I was climbing out my bedroom window. She found the note when she caught me halfway out the window. I know, it is a little bit much, but I learned that writing about how I was feeling was a great way to process my thoughts at an early age because of these experiences.

As I grew into my preteens, I was faced with a transition that changed the way that I saw everything in the world. I was uprooted from my childhood home only to be transplanted in an area that I was unfamiliar with. It was a bit unsettling for my pre-adolescent mind to fathom. Everything that I knew was ripped from me. I developed some unhealthy coping strategies. Peer pressure got the best of me, and I quit writing.

However, my teenage angst rekindled my passion in writing. I began writing poetry when I was 12, about a year after the upheaval. It was my solace. It was my outlet for all of the stress and despair that I was experiencing.

When I was 17, I decided that some day, I was going to write a book. I decided on the name "Trindi" for the main character. Well, apparently, I needed about 30 years to prepare. I am now in the middle of writing my debut novel. Stay tuned for the launch and the world as you know it to be challenged.
